Have done Ayung river, Ubud and Telaga Waja, Kerangasem.
Ayung river wider, generally calmer with some big rapids. Lots of steps.
Telaga Waja skinnier river, more but smaller rapids and one 3 metre drop at the end over the dam wall. Less steps.
The amount of water and roughness is also affected by time of year and amount of recent rainfall.
Why not do both if you have time? Its cheap enough and great scenery on both rivers. If you are lucky you won't get wet when going down
