Bob(myself) Regina (wife) Dean (my son) Sonya (my sister in law) with others joing in at different times of the trip/.
Flight over and return with Jetstar no problems except a 2 hour delay
which they had given plenty of notification about. Nice planes and i did prefer the A320 which is a smaller plane on the flight over and A330 on the return.
Accomodation was 10.5 nights at the Barong hotel with an up grade to a Family room for Regina and myself and a tripple room for Dean and Sonya. At 250,00 Rp a night the Barong is excellent value, the gardens are wonderfull. Occupancy was 85% with a few rooms closed for renovations. A great mix of ages and nationalies with out any porblems at all and love the location!.
We had Reginas family staying at the Puri Raja for a week and the last four days my family stayed with us at the Barong, so all in all it was a very busy trip.
Sonya tripped on the first day and broke her wrist in 2 places. BIMC
sent a Medico to take a look and then took her to their hospital which she recievied great service and advise, which was to travel home a.s.a.p as she has other complications, it was the best advise as her doctors in Tasmania agreed and also would not operate but chose to try and set, which they did succesfully!! Her insurance company was great and payed all fees till she returned to Australia.
She had a return fully paid ticket from Melb. to Tassie with Virgin Blue which they would not transfer for her and she had to pay $250.00
one way... Shame on you Virgin!!!!!!!!! Sonya has written to Virgin and we awaite the outcome!
It was my brothers wifes 50th birthday and they wanted to do something different as they had their two sons and girl friends as well as other friends with them, So. I had ordered 20 Red stubbie Holders with her picture on the front and Happy Birthday Bali 2007
written on it, we all dressed in RED/White (14 of us) and off we went to Sammie ans Susies. The locals loved the fact that we were wearing their nations, flags colours and many coments and fun was had with this! We walked the 20 minutes and when we arrived, Elly who's birthday it was just sat in bemusment and said " Where on earth have you brought us too? What are you doing to us?
Well by the time we left S&S a couple of hours latter we found that every one had had a BALL as well as a few Bintang.. This was a mystey event to all except myself and Regina and off we walked to our next destination which was a small warung for first shared entrie
of Lumpiar and pork/chicken and beef sate as well as a couple of bintang each/. I don't recall the name of this place but it was on the beach road part of Jl. Benisari. Our third stop for a main course
which I had pre booked was The Balcony restaurant in the same lane as the last. We all ordered what we wanted and had a great meal as well as the compimenatry frozen margarita, we ordered drinks as required. Some of the crew were getting a little tired (lazy) of all the walking and so jumped on the back of motor bikes for the next venture to KORI RESTAURANT (dennisc were you waiting for that)to enjoy a birthday cake, desert and party drinks. The front room at Kori which is glassed in and air conditioned was done up with red/white ballons/stremmers etc, we partied comfortably and then the staff brought in the cake!!! well if any one had had a celebration in this place you will know that all the staff, including kitchen come out with pots and pans and anything elese they may use as a musiacl instrument ad sing happy birthday in english and then again in bainese which always enjoy to the Max. We all had a top night and finished up back at the Barong about 1.30 a.m. for night cap.
The entire night was payed for by my brother and the cost for those who may be interested! for a great night for 14 people AU$430.00 with tips. or AU$30 each.
I will finish for now with more to come.
