when I put up the other photos. I took about 4,000 photos altogether.
Here is another album of photos from previous visits to Indonesia-total 7 now.
Sumatran photos are Kerinci, then Badui- ancient people of West Java, beaches south of Yogjakarta and one of Halimun National park in West Java not far from where the Badui live.
The Badui are amazing as they live in the same primitive way they have for centuries and only eat two meals a day. They sleep when the sun goes down and do not have any pillows or comfortable bedding.
They keep to their traditions and if anyone brings anything modern to the village it is confiscated when regular searches are done.
There are two Badui- inner and outer. Travellers can visit the outer but not the inner.
However, when visiting the Outer Badui ( they wear dark navy clothes) one can be lucky like I was and meet the Inner Badui dressed in their cream clothes on their way walking into Bogor to sell their wares and their honey.
On my visit in 2000 I was not allowed to photograph the people so hence the only photo of a person is Pak Ailin where we stayed and of course he is an Outer badui so wears the navy blue.
There is another village of Badui near Garut in far east West Java where the villagers who broke away from the original group( spirit believers- no organised religion) live because they wanted to embrace the Muslim religion.
To get to the village of Kampung Naga one has to wlak down about 360+ steps to get to the village.
Yet another fascinating place in Indonesia.
