If it happens to involve hospitalisation or medical evacuation back to Australia, you'd have to be very well off for it not to have a long term effect on your finances - and if you are so well off, then you should just get it in the first place. Personally, I think all insurance is a necessary evil! The chances of you having to use it are fairly slim, but if you do you'll be really glad you have it. Cheers, Sue.
