We stayed at the Pelangi in SEminyak for 5 nights and Ubud Village Hotel for 2 nights (not nearly long enough in both places, next time we will try for longer)
Pelangi
Location was exceptional right on the beach and close to shops, restaurants. Pool beautiful overlooking the beach. Staff very friendly. Our room was near the pool and restaurant no 301. The only two negatives were the smell in the room - we thought it mildewy but manager said fresh paint smell. We got used to it reluctantly. The breakfast left a lot to be desired. The first morning we arrived late for breakfast and there was not much left. The next 2 mornings we strolled down the beach to Gado Gado and Ku De Ta - beautiful food at both places. The last two mornings we had to leave early for various reasons so ate at Pelangi - better when early for breakfast but still not the best. Having said that I would probably stay again just for location although hubby said no he would like to try somewhere else. We do like to try different hotels each time for variety. I really loved the location of the Pelangi having not been to Seminyak previously.
Ubud Village
This was recommended by the forum and thankyou very much. Loved this hotel. Location central Monkey forest road - perfect! Rooms beautiful, gardens lovely, staff very friendly, breakfast wonderful. Cappacinos - the best! We only had a short stay here but would definately stay again hopefully longer as we love Ubud.
