10 GUIDELINES FOR BUILDING A VILLA IN UBUD
1. Choose a good builder and never return until the day you move
in.
2. Questions that can't be answered.
Why is each floor 2cm / 1 inch lower than its neighbour?
Where is the front door?
Why are the steps in stairway of different heights? (I would
love to know the answer to that one)
3. No, water from your well can not be drunk - ever.
4. Bali roofs are supposed to leak.
5. Be sure to specify western bathroom WITH doors.
6. Geckos were here before you - adjust. (I wish I had been told
that as one kept me awake at night)
7. Yes, there are light bulbs greater than 25 watts.
8. The showers will be built for people 1.5m or 5 ft tall unless you
instruct otherwise.
9. If your house is water tight, western bathrooms that work,
modern kitchen with ice maker - you're in Switzerland - not Bali.
10. The remains of the Java Man were discovered in 1893. He is
believed to be one of the oldest humanoids and he's still waiting for his villa to be finished.
It was signed off - as with anything in Bali each experience is a treasure.
