a family compound where the whole family is supported by the daily production on palm sugar & you're shown how they produce & get to help stir it on the fire & set it in coconut shells, etc. You go to a fish warung for lunch - a really local place - no chairs, just low tables to sit on next to the wonderful food - this was a fabulous experience. You also go to meet a family who live on the beach & produce sea salt for a living (fascinating process) and see how they live - they live in paradise but are very poor. If you do end up doing the tour, you might like to take some clothes for the families you visit (a few t-shirts would help them out). You also get given samples of the palm sugar & sea salt & all up it's a great day. We took our kids (we asked for a kids' price & they charged 1/2 price for them) and we all just really enjoyed it. Cheers, Sue.
