I have done 3 of the cooking classes at Casa Luna, each with Janet deNeefe. I thoroughly enjoyed the classes and learnt a lot. I especially enjoyed the Tuesday, Ubud market tour first. My complaint was the number in the class too. We had I recall 26 in one class.
Thanks for reminding me about the Sea salt and palm sugar tour on a Sunday. I like that idea, so will plan to book for June.
Last month we did the class at Tegal Sari and it was sensational. Nyoman is an executive chef and has previously worked for the Hyatt Hotels. He now owns Sate Bali in Seminyak, Nyomans orchids and is planning to open a Balinese restaurant in Adelaide once location is found. He showed us many cooking tips, methods and demonstrated well. Once again, we didnt really do much of the work, but the eating of the courses for lunch was delicious. We paid 200,000rp. Not sure if its for non guests as well, but worth a call to Tegal Sari to ask. Minimum of 4 people and we had 6 in our class. The cooking area is the site of a restaurant which fell into hard times after the 2002 attack. Its on the left as you enter the driveway into Tegal Sari car park.
