I have searched the archives but still have a question about a tourist motorcycle licence. I would like to hire an automatic scooter on my next trip. I've completed motorcycle school here and have the piece of paper to try for my Ls but don't think I can get my full license before my next trip (I am old so dont have to get my Ps).

My credit card insurance policy states: ‘We do not insure you for any event that is caused by or arises from: * motorcycling unless you are riding a motorcycle with an engine capacity of 200cc or less and hold a motorcycle licence which is valid in the country you are in ...'

This differs from other policies which say you have to have a motorcycle licence in your home country too.

So I read this to be that I need an Bali motorcycle licence. I note from archives that I can go to the police station in Kerobokan (Poltabes?) and pay $25 and get one.

To get one do I have to do a riding test? Or a written test, and if yes, it is in English? How long does it all take?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks
