but on the way out. I had been working in Bali and was travelling to Australia on a business trip. My salary was to be paid in Australia when I arrived, so I left having 500 rupiah in coins in a small bag - and nothing else! The immigration guy asked if I had a gift for him. I honestly didn't hear him and asked what? He repeated himself and I said I had no money on me. He couldn't believe his ears and asked for dollars, rupiah, notes of any denomination. I explained that I had 500 rupiah in coins. It was when I shook my little coin purse that jingled and he glanced left and right, that he stamped my passport and let me through!
