Being a former military person, I am always early everywhere. So on our return Good Friday eve I was intrigued to watch a gent approach the last check desk with a package containing 4 bottles of liquid to be checked. It turned out to be massage oils,(and probably not attractive items for the locals), and he had to fill in a form, show his passport and ticket and it was put it a sealed clear plastic bag and off it went with the baggage. I was at the carousel in Perth when it came off unscathed in front of all other baggage. Maybe this is how you're supposed to get your last minute grog shopping on the plane - do it early, and don't wait till there's a multitude of troopers wanting to get on the plane, as it took about 10 minutes to execute this new routine for this gent. Remember, if its going to be a problem, however minor, for the officials its going to be a bigger problem for you.
