But beds are not the real problem are they? If people had the land and resources to be really self-sufficient then they would be able to buy their own beds which is far more empowering than getting a gift that some westerner decides you need.
Nobody is attacking your good intentions, which I am sure you had at the time. I just think you might have been a little less gung ho about relating the experience and maybe people wouldn't have been so inclined to criticise.
But good on you for raising awareness of the problems the Balinese face and I really hope that you can reflect on this experience and see that the WAY we choose to give must be carefully considered.
