The entire bukit coastline is pretty spectacular with many nice beaches. (Bukit is the peninsula south of airport).
The Dreamland area is nice because the beaches are fairly large compared to some others in the area.
For me the downside is the number of people.. It can resemble Kuta Beach at times complete with greasy people in speedos playing smashball, etc. There are lots of other places in the area to get away from the crowds and enjoy a pristine beach.
Note, some beaches that are sizeable during low tide can disappear during high tide so timing is important. This can be dangerous if you go walking to a secluded area during low tide and then get trapped by the incoming tide, and this can happen over the course of only a few hours.
