Was he careful about what he ate and drank last time ? Mind you, you can get a bug anytime and anywhere. Could just have been bad luck. We have been 12 times and have taken 2 small kids, now teenages. We never get sick. We are a little careful what we eat. We always eat at the resturants in the streets and never eat at the Hotel (only because of the expense). I will eat off the carts, but I check it out first and make sure that it all well cooked. We obviously don't drink the tap water.
Unless he gets this sort of thing regularly he'll probably be fine.
