Bali beach breaks are unpredictable and unforgiving- make sure the kids talk to the locals and know how to read the conditions and if in doubt, don't go out. The rips are strong and can change quickly.
I have stood on Kuta beach before on a stunning gorgeous day...but the sea was absolutely churning and loads of tourists thought the waves really looked like fun and were going out to boogie board *sigh*. I was with my husband and large group of friends who are all experienced surfers and we couldn't believe it..... we found out latter a few people drowned that day. Not trying to freak you out- just remind your kids how important it is to watch the conditions.
