Hi Brandy tell your son to take his fins but to leave the wetty at home there's just no need as the water is bath temp. If he is just beginning to surf over there stick to the breaks at Kuta/ Legian but make sure you go for a tour to Uluwatu as it is very speccy and he may want try a surf there if its not too big. Also if you are staying on the Legian side go down to Canngu there are some nice waves down that way!! Have a great holiday and remember the sunscreen, many believe that alot of Bali Belly is actually sunstroke in many cases. cheers halbs
