I pack:
Swimmers
undies
shorts
tops
I wear my four wheel drive sandals on the plane (take a pair of socks can get cold) These are great for walking and activities. Then buy a pair of sequenced thongs over there ( about $3) and they will do for your casual wear.
I always carry a sarong in my bag and then if the sun bothers me I can put it over the top, you can sit on it, wrap it around your shoulders if your cold, dry off, put it around your legs at mozzie time.etc.
I am on the larger size and I am 5 ft 11, but I have bought some great clothes in Bali, they are not on every street corner but I have had some made and go to a great shop called CHITRA. If you are a smaller size you can buy clothes everywhere soooooooooooo cheap, so do not take up any room.
I usually go to the op shop and buy beach towels for a couple of dollars and take them and leave them, the beach sellers will love you if you leave it with them.
Everthing else is so cheap just buy bits for there and leave the leftovers.
You could also consider topping up your suitcase with donations for the schools or orphanges with unwanted goods, I only mention this because the first two trips this would not have occurred to me. Now I take up a collection at work and soon fill my empty suitcase.
Have a great trip !
