Hi, I always take jeans, a T-shirt and a jumper and running shoes and socks to wear on the plane and then 1 x shorts, 1 x singlet and 1 x thongs. Also swimwear and underwear. Then you have it all covered.
You will buy heaps of sinlets, t-shirts and shorts over there and that is what you will wear all of the time, even in Ubud. They have places now that sell real rebooks, addidas, nike etc. cheaper than in Australia at Kuta square across from Matahari. So you don't really need to take shoes if you want to buy them there.
As for towels, I either use the pool towels at the Hotel and a Sarong on the beach to lay on and dry off.
Main priority is a good first aid kit.
