... a thin layer of porcelain is "glued" over the front face of a tooth. I had some done way over 10 years ago now (in Sydney) and have not had a problem with them since. They can be used not only to create a whiter appearance but to even out a mishapen tooth or "build up" a tooth face. They are still used a lot today despite new techniques being available for whitening. I have heard of very thin veneers becoming so transparent over time that the discoloured tooth underneath can show though so like everything, the quality of the outcome relates directly to the quality of the product used.
