Watch out for bodyboards that have been bent. You can tell if they have creases running across them. Most bodyboards I have seen for hire are not worth it. You need a board that is solid otherwise you can't catch waves. Better to take your own if you are serious about having a good surf. You can buy a good bb for $150 in Aust at a surf shop rather than KMart.
