Friday 30th
The end is nigh!
Words usually don't fail me but right about now they are. How to put in words my thoughts and feelings on leaving this magical & seductive place.
But leave I must, so with my bags packed, my security box emptied and those last few minutes to while away I sit and have a quick chat to Antoni.
My driver Agung is waiting, he's saying it's time and I'm shaking my head saying ‘no just a little bit longer'.
Finally, it must be done. Goodbyes all round, tears from me. I really, really hate goodbyes. Even though I know I will be seeing Tina & Belinda in a few months, I don't know when next Di and I will meet up. I really hate goodbyes. And out onto the street, with goodbyes being called from the sellers. Agung makes me laugh half heartedly with his comment, ‘Everyone knows you'.
We chat through to the airport, thank goodness as my mood is not good. Checked in, chatting to the man at reception knowing full well my luggage was overweight and hoping I would get away with it, at the same time prepared to pay excess if I had to. I was lucky, must have been the sweet smile I had been practicing, or maybe the tears still glistening in my eyes.
Well you guys know how it goes when you get to this point. Saunter through a few shops... I bought ‘A Little Bit One O'clock' and ‘A House in Bali' - just to make those Bali Blues a little harder to deal with.
Pulled up a pew next to a really, really nice couple..... West Coast Supporters..... so they had to be nice ;) Coincidentally they read the forum but have never posted.... Yet!!!
We were then told that we would be delayed 30mins but boarding still went ahead at normal time. We sat, we waited.... We got off the plane... we were told we would be delayed further. My ardent wish was that the plane would be delayed for days rather than hours... it wasn't and we took off at 2.30pm 2 hrs late. No problems - I personally would rather they fix engine problems rather than have the plane fall out of the sky. Funny that!
And so the story ends - until next time that is! With tears in my eyes I watch the last view of Bali fall away from the window, frantically I scan the window on the other side of the plane but some knob has their big head in the way. I will cherish the special memories I have. What happens in Bali stays in Bali!
And now, 5 days since my return, the fronds of that magic spell that Bali weaved so delicately about me have begun to fray slightly as reality takes it's vicious hold. Welcome to real world! Until we meet again....
