Thursday 22nd
Breakfast at the hotel. Took a taxi up to double six and began our shopping frenzy. Di says we hunt in packs and she's right, some shops we were all in at once.... Squishy yes! Other's we just wandered our way down the street stopping when and if we pleased. Bought more jewellery & sarongs.
Stopped at The Coffee Shop for a quick drink and to see if we could catch Tracy (TnT), no luck but left her a note.
Decided on Warung Yogya for a quick lunch and then into Celebes. I had a Cream Bath, Tina and Belinda a facial and Di went up to Bintang Supermarket with Wayne Gardner.
We all met back up at Suri Wathi, enjoyed a swim and a happy hour or two. He*gie delivered DVD's and Tracy (TnT) arrived to join us for dinner at Wayan & Friends. I always order the same thing there, Onion Rostbratten and once again it was delicious.
I think (hehe) this may have been the night we went to Hulu's but couldn't really be sure. Quite possibly the mind was beginning to suffer the effects of alcohol poisoning at this stage. Oh well, we're there to enjoy and enjoy we did!
Friday 23rd
Awoke to heavy rain. It was definitely a thong day.
Our trip this time was very unscheduled, we knew we had things we wanted to do and just did them when the time felt right. So we wandered off down to Ketut's and French Leather. I wanted to get some Jazz Shoes made of my dancing daughter. I was skeptical when I saw them, not sure whether they would fit her but they do, perfectly like a glove. Very happy!
Di and I had a drink and a chat with Desi at Breeze. We were talking about what to do for lunch when the road directly in front of Breeze began to be cut open with some very noisy machinery. That made up our mind that lunch wasn't going to be at Breeze.
On the roadworks, it's really not that bad. Garlic Lane/Jalan Sahadewa is very quiet at the moment. AS this is where the roadworks are at the moment vehicles are virtually non existent. It actually made it quite pleasant to walk down, especially walking back to Suri Wathi from Legends late at night after just one drink!
We wandered around the corner to Jalan Padma and decided Bobbies looked alright for lunch. It had actually been one of Nicno's finds about 18mths ago. 18mths ago it may have been good.... I spent a few hours that evening getting well and truly acquainted with the toilet, whether it was the meal at Bobby's or something else, who knows. Just one of those things.
We spent the afternoon wandering through Ramayana in Denpasar. It must have been around 5.30pm when we left and standing in the bottom floor looking outside was like looking out of a huge winter's storm. Amazing!
Driving back to Suri Wathi the traffic was horrendous. The ‘puddles' of water were as high as the wheels on the cars, the drains down the sides of the road were brimming full in parts, overflowing in others. A few days later we saw the rice had been laid flat by the torrents of water!
Saturday 24th
One week gone! Okay time to nip that thought in the bud right now and enjoy the precious moments.
Tina and Belinda were off to visit the schools today and Di and I had made some plans whilst we were chatting. The plans seemed to change every few minutes but finally we had it right.
We would walk down to Our's for breakfast, then onto Ketut's early as she's always busy. Then Di was going to head up to Geneva whilst I did whatever took my fancy.
Down passed Legends, closed, Ours, closed.... Hmm plan was foiled. Decided to fall back onto one of our other ideas for brekkie and head up to Rum Jungle Road to Tommy's. Nice enough brekkie but really no better than Suri Wathi.
Biked backed to Ketut's, Di went to Geneva, I had some pool time. We all assembled back together mid afternoon and had lunch at Uncle Norms.
Then it was time.... A time we had been waiting for with so much anticipation. We prettied ourselves up I mean after all when one is meeting a George Clooney look alike one needs to look their best.
We high tailed it down to SnS on bikes, apparently my bike rider likes ‘jiggyjig'. Yep thanks for the info...lol
At SnS we searched the faces for George aka Hools - nope... we had been stood up. No worries... we met Sue and her daughter Lauren, Sue posts under Laurens log in Lozza. Absolutely gorgeous pair.
With Sue and Lauren in tow we wandered down Melasti St to Garlic Lane and into Billy's. Met by the effervescent Jack and sat down with a drink.
And then he arrived. My god we were totally blown away by the resemblance. There was much jostling of table positions as we all vied for a spot near the new God ‘Hools'. Mrs Hools was wonderful and quite happy to let the underlings take their turn.
Lauren was quite ill and Jack kindly offered to take them back to the hotel, they were staying at the PR at the time. Sue tucked Lauren into bed, left her with my mobile number just in case and headed back to us.
My take on the night began to get a bit of a blurry edge to it from here. Struth arrived followed by the stunningly gorgeous Julie57k *wink wink nudge nudge*. Hools was initiated into the Martha Tilaar club, of which I must admit to not being a member of. Hoos, later in the week agreed,oh so kindly (it was my birthday!,that I don't actually need to be a member!
We continued onto Legends and someone also suggested another stop at Hulu's later. I know we never made it that far. Legends was our first stop then Suri Wathi to finish.
And the story once again has to end quite abruptly right here.
What goes on in Bali stays in Bali - right girls?!?!
Mwa to my special Juleeeeeee! ;)
