A friend of mine was returning from her overseas trip on her new passport and for some reason or another her residence visa wasn't in her new passport. She is a permanent resident and has been nearly all her life having been brought up in Australia but isn't a citizen. She spent hours at the aiport trying to prove her residency, even with her children in Perth staying at friends and her husband with her it still took time.
