The new for Bali "international" taking liquids on a plane standard came into effect yesterday, Bali style. This is what I observed. On arrival at the international departure section of the airport, you still go through the "every thing must be xrayed" process. Only this time I was advised that the 3 stubbies of "Storm ale" in my hand luggage would have to go into my suitcase, thus increasing its weight. Upon receiving my boarding pass, you are advised of the 100ml rule and given a plastic bag. You are then free to roam the airport to buy as much liquid as you want, but here is the sting. When you go through your final xray at the departure gate, the 100ml rule comes into play. Duty free bought outside the airport; not in a bag; unopened and not with a receipt was not allowed through. Water in a bottle bigger than 100ml, regardless of any of the above was not allowed through, which is a bit awkward, because unlike other airports, you cant purchase water once through security or go and top up your empty container with healthy drinking water from the "kamer cecil" The security man that checked my 250ml bottle of water wanted to know what size it was. I told him 100ml. I did not get away with it!!!
