is simply stunning if you want really back to basics (and surf).
It is amazing- a drive out to close by Ullawatu, park in a parking lot at the top of hill and climb down a steep walkway to a sheltered bay with thatched roof huts on the beach.
Very simple living, fairly cheap even by backpackers standards and a really refreshing place for the soul :-)
Reef breaks right in front of you and beaches to walk on, and a small lagoon on the inside of the reef.
Lovina on the other side of the island can also be lovely- not as in your face as kuta but still busy and social.... good if you aren't a surfer but excellent diving close by :-)
