Considering my friend is a tourist driver and if he wasn't spending time with me he could be earning that each day anyway, I think 300 000 Rp a day is fair. Also keeping in mind he does not own his vehicle and actually drives for someone else, he still needs to be able to pass money on to his boss to keep him happy also.
If you still don't agree I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.
