to indicate that there is no text in the body of the message. Other standards of this are nt for no text and nm for no message. Its a bit confusing on this forum because the forum asks you to include text (though a fullstop will do) but eom should be placed in the subject line and considerately saves people opening up posts to find that that there is nothing there. Particularly appreciated by people struggling along with slow internet connections as it saves them waiting for a message to open up which has no content.
