From Qantas today concerning my flight in April:
"We recommend passengers travelling on international flights departing from Australia between 31 March and 30 April 2007 arrive at the airport up to three hours before departure to allow extra time for security screening during the implementation of these new Government measures. "
The 3 hours is because they are expecting check-in and security scans to take longer as people get used to the new rules. But you could probably cut it finer if you had connecting planes. Especially if luggage is checked through.
