Hi guys I have been asked to put a posting up about what happened to me on the weekend and to make people aware it can happen any where.
Before I go into my story it happened to my daughter in Bali about 10 years ago........it was New Years eve and we were walking to Peanuts night club when we stopped to buy a whistle from the side of the road. She picked her own whistle so I believe it was not intended for her. The drug had been smeared around the mouth piece. She said it tasted like tiger balm and burnt her lips. We have been told that it could possibly have been roehipnal (sorry I am the worst speller and have NO idea how to spell it) We were lucky that in our group we had a nurse that looked after her all night.
My story.... I have gone into most of the details and hope I do not offend any one.
My self, my husband and mother in law went down to our local pub to have a play on the poker machines, on Friday night. My daughter and her boyfriend both have second jobs working there, and I know a lot of the patrons there.
I have no idea when or where it happened but I the only time I can remember putting my drink down is beside the poker machine.........I was sitting next to my mother in law and started to feel VERY drunk and completely off my head, I could hardly see the screen on the poker machine and could not work out what was going on.
My husband came up and I told him I wanted to go home. I vomited all the way home.
My husband tells me.... at home I took my clothes off and I lay on the floor and just did not stop vomiting. I wet my self but would not let my husband come near me to clean me up or even put clothes on me. On the odd moments when I was not vomiting I was curled up in a fetal position moaning.
My husband said he has seen me sick on drink before but had never seen me so bad and guessed that I had been drugged so he rang an ambulance. (I am horrified at the thought, that two young ambulance men arrived to see me... nude on the floor laying in my own urine!)
I do not remember much of the ride to hospital only that I felt so sick I just wanted to die!!
At the hospital I continued to vomit and I also wet myself again. I was put on a drip and given 2 liters of fluids and something to stop the vomiting. They took blood tests and urine tests.
After about 2 hours I suddenly felt much better and became aware of what was going on and where I was. But for about 20 minutes afterwards I started having involuntary muscle twitching, all my body started twitching and jumping around.
My tests came back positive for benzodiazepines which I have been told could mean Valium or Roehipnal.
This is a warning to people to watch your drinks never leave them unattended.
It has happened to my daughter in a different country where we didn't know any body, and now to me in a place that I am familiar with.
Now I know how my daughter felt that night.....the only difference is I am 49 have a pacemaker!!
