After a delayed start to its operations due to the 2002 bombing, Air Paradise began services to Oz in February 2003 and Japan in October 2004. The airline ceased operations on November 24, 2004 - 55 days after the second bombing. At the time of the airline's launch, Bali tourism had made an outstanding recovery and just prior to the second bombing the island was enjoying record tourism that had exceeded its record numbers pre-bombing 02. Pretty ideal conditions for launching an airline one would suggest. That the financial base of a business of this magnitude was insufficient to carry it past 6 weeks of operation after October 1 is a pretty fair indication that Ap was in trouble well before this date and probably never really got out of the starting blocks. As for suggesting the unions killed Ansett...that is simply a nonsense. When Air New Zealand took control of Ansett it set about stripping the airline of its assets - financial as well as plant and equipment - to prop up its own ailing product. In the end, Ansett simply collapsed. Not long after, Air New Zealand nearly went the same way. If it hadn't of been for NZ Government bail-out, ANZ woudl have joined Ansett and AP on teh scrap heap.
