I managed to get a reasonably cheap deal for July with Qatar airways. It was to KL though, and I have bought a separate connection with Air Asia. The flight to KL worked out £380 return, and the connection to Bali was £70 return. I'm not sure if the same deal is still on as I booked it a few weeks ago, but I booked on flights4less.com and similar deals were on expedia.
I've stayed at La Walon a few times over the past few years. Some people aren't keen on it, but I really like it as I think it is really good value for money and the staff are nice. I like it because they are several nice fan rooms at the top of the building above the pool which are cheaper than air-con, and I don't like air-con. Masa Inn next door is also popular, but I think it only has air-con rooms. The breaksfast at la Walon is simple but nice - a choice of 2 or 3 items e.g. egg, toast, fruit, or pancake and fruit, all served with tea or coffee.
