Returned form our 1 week dash without children with 4 friends (who also left kids at home) on Sunday morning flying Jetstar.
Flights, no problems except returning ,the computer system at the desks failed so check in delayed slightly ,delaying the flight.
Worked out fine and the pilot made up time in the air.
Customs in Melbourne needs to sharpen their act up though .
They need to anticipate arrival times a bit better and employ more staff to cope. What a joke!! 2 hours to complete customs is ridiculous.
We stayed at Bakungs Beach Hotel this trip mainly because it was part of the Jetstar cheap package.
Must say for a 2 star it was ok.Breakfast included which was basic.
For 70.000rp per night who's complaining.
Rooms need some sprucing up but they are being demolished starting this week anyway!!
The hotel is renovating the pool area and restaurant and the block we were in is going!to make way for it.Dressing up the entrance and surrounds also i believe.
Weather was good most days with rain and thunderstorms some nights and other days in the mornings with the afternoons very humid.
We ate at Dewi Sri seafood in Tuban and Nyoman looked after us well as usual and wants more aussie support(as usual!)
Stresses that he wants us to think of the food quality and not the furniture etc.!!
Also ate at The Pantai and was a little dissappointed with the food this time but still a great spot.
My wife and i celebrated our Anniversary on March 1st and booked a table with our travelling friends at Ma Joly who i have to say ,went all out to ensure our night was special.
The staff here are attentive but unobtrusive and the quality of the food is 5 star with their French Chef doing a superb job with each course. The setting on the edge of the beach was nice also.
Check their website for food and reservation details.
Wine is a tad exy. in Bali but especially here.
5 star treatment all the way with rose petals on the table cloth, white chiffon around the chairs and a complimentary anniversary cake .The ladies were impressed and the guys too!
Ate also at Poco Loco (ok)but empty, SA Cafe ,good food as usual, and Daddys Cafe for a hearty breakfast for a change.
Went on the Bali Hai dinner cruise. Buffet dinner with a caberet show inside and band on the deck. Must say though, the thunderstorm was the highlight at the end with fork lightning very close.
Travelled to SD2 school Sabongan to give some gifts to students. friendly as usual and pleased for any support.Nice area to visit too.
Was given a gift of Rambutans in exchange which was nice.
Had to visit Waterbom and this time of year was an ideal time as the place was empty basically and we wer able to go straight on to every ride including the newer Boomerang which was enjoyed by all!!
We also had a look at the bird and animal market in Denpasar and travelled to Tanah Lot for another look as some of our frinds hadn't been there before.
In between we did manage to drink some Bintangs and Arak Orange as well as shop in gang samudra and Kuta etc. Our old friend "Wayan" (funnily enough!) picked us up at the airport and was a reliable and trustworthy driver, dinner companion and information source whilst in Bali as usual.
All in all a full and fantastic week in Bali again.
Roll on next year.
