I find it amazing, the number of people who will say to me "Oh my god, you're not going back to Bali are you? Do you want to get bombed? Why don't you go to Fiji instead?". I just look at them amazed wondering if the words "military coop" mean anything to them. I really don't understand why people will happily return to New York, London and Madrid but will shake their head in wonderment that you'd be "silly enough" to return to Bali.

What keeps me going back are the same things I enjoyed on my first trip there in 94. The people, first and foremost. Tied in with that, the culture, just the general feeling of being there, which is so hard to describe to someone who's never been. I can't imagine any other time in my life (other than when I'm in Bali) that I can be happy ALL the time. The place just makes me smile and feel alive.

And after all these years it still amazes me that such a beautiful and unique place, so different to where we are, can be so close geographically.
