Congratulations-they were the best comments I have read on this forum for some time!! I totally agree with you and certainly respect your thoughts. I constantly wonder how anyone can really recommend a hotel to total strangers!! Or rubbish a hotel as we are all SO different with what we consider acceptable, etc. Even the 5 star joints dont get it right sometimes!!!!
Bali is a third world country and we tend to forget that, when standards come into it. You are lucky to have been able to see Bali before the massive cahnges of tourism etc. My brother went in 1981 and talks about staying at Mastapa Gardens in Legian St and said it was the furthest hotel north and you had to walk through the paddock to get to the beach (past the cows) Just so hard to imagine.
