I found Downtown Villas were willing to negotiate prices but I did stay there for 3 weeks on one trip. Simply heaven. There are cheaper options for sure but from reading your original post I thought Downtown fit the bill perfectly.
Another property I can highly recommend is Dyana Villas in Seminyak. Cheaper option, still lovely but very different to Downtown. Copy and paste www.balidyanavilla.com into your web browser.
I have also added the link to Mics site. Click on the section for 1,2,3 bedroom villas and apartments etc. Then choose which area Seminyak, Legian. Heaps of options to look at.
As to the area you mentioned up in the hills, sorry but i am not sure where you mean exactly. Can you name the area? cheers :-)
