Stayed there a couple of times several years ago [as an adult couple with no children]. I'd say it would be fine for kids.
Waterbom a few minutes walk away. Pantai Restaurant [on the beach] a great place for breakfast, with the beach sellers enticing the kids to take interest in what they are selling. All very entertaining. And the Pantai has the same sunsets as Jimbaran, with no hassles over the alleged weight of the fish. Plenty of other restaurants in the same street as Risata.
A nice little laneway, with nice people, past the Pantai going up towards Jl Kartika Plaza, with a good selection of shops. And Daddys Restaurant on Jl Kartika Plaza, up the funny little spiral staicase. Sit and watch the world go by.
On the beach side of JKP, walking towards Waterbom, a Kodak moneychanger and a small supermarket. To me, a very pleasant part of Bali.
