Suriwathi- As I mentioned I stayed in the deluxe rooms this time. First I was in 19B for the day which was lovely. When I moved from the Superior they put me in 18A. The A's are twins, the B's are king bed.
Well the shower in 18A has different taps to the others. They are stick handles (hard to explain) that stick out at 90degrees from the wall. To turn the on you push them back flat with the wall. Problem is when you push it all the way back it's not strong enough. I asked them to look at it and they did, saying they're all the same (but they're not). If you had long hair you would never get it rinsed. When I returned from Benoa I said "not 18A". I had 18B.
I mentioned the umbrellas (lack of) and breakfast before and got attacked saying that hotels in Australia would tell me to f&%^%$#.
We4ll anyone who knows anything about business knowsw that businesses thrive on customer feedback and those that don't don't last long. When I did my management training (before I became a teacher) We were taught to always liten to customer complaints because for every complaint made there are 10 that just walk away and say nothing but vow to never return. That's why good businesses ask for feedback (how was your meal?) Suriwathi is va great budget hotel. It will be interesting to see where they are in 5 years time. I hope do well. Management can make or break a business (as can staff).
Peninsula Resort. Wanted to mention the food. I ate by the pool a few times as the food was good and a reasonable price. Apparently they promised to keep the prices vdown but they went up last year. Management noticed a fall in the number of people eating and drinking by the pool and reduced prices (good management). When I was there all people were eating and drinking. I never noticed anyone leaving for lunch elsewhere.
Some examples of prices were (21%++)
Cap Cay 30.000 (huge bowl with extra bowl of rice)
Milkshake 18.000
Hamburger with fries and caulslaw (huge) 40.000
French fries, Brushetta 15.000 each
Juice 12.000 (as opposed to Conrad hotel 40.000 + tax)
Discovery Plaza- in the bottom of Discovery Plaza there are a few shops around the outside with sporting goods, natural soap shop, homewares. All the rest is full of different counters. It looks like a department store. If you are a size 12 or under there were some beautiful bras and undies very cheap. There are bags, jewellery, clothes. Lots of different things. Worth a look.
