Our room at BGH had a noisy airconditioner. I'm a bit of an insomniac, and I spent hours one night listening to it. I can hear it now: eight ticks, nine knocks, eight ticks, nine knocks... at half-second intervals. I eventually had the good sense to turn the wretched thing off!
How did you enjoy the Novotel, by the way? We've stayed there a few times, and I just love the look and feel of the place - and the breakfasts! Do they still do those little dishes of creme caramel, rice pudding and clafoutis? And the spiced stewed fruit? And the lovely home-made bread? Yummmmmmm
