Don't know if you have ever hired a fisherman and his canoe while in Bali, but a great trip is from Candi Dasa to White Sands beach. It takes about 30 minutes to get there and the scenery along the way is beautiful(plus the view of Mt Agung in the background is stunning). There is good snorkeling(bring your own gear) right from the nice beach, and normally very few if any other tourists. Take some extra rupiah(5000 or so) to pay for the fishermen on shore to "land" your canoe. Early morning is best for a calmer sea.
