Be careful because they may charge different amounts for different tickets as Nate said.
We had to return early in 2002 (garuda) and basically were charged to repurchase a one way ticket each.
Cost us $850 from memory for 3 tickets and had to be paid in cash.
We were eventually able to claim on travel insurance after much hassle.
I guess if you look into it early enough and they were going to charge you this amount you would just use your original retun ticket.
Unfortunately we had no choice.
