We have flown from Hedland to Bali with Skywest several times. Takes less than two hours and service is fine. It is a basic service but you will still get a meal (no free alcohol!). Only thing is if you are flying to or from Perth you still have to get off the plane at Hedland to go thru customs. We've never had any probs tho.
