My children are now aged 3 and 6 so this year we are going to book a family pool view room.
When my youngest was 1 we stayed in both the kiddy suite's and a garden view family room. The reason was that I had a very active one year old and I decided upon garden facing rooms so that I did not have to worry about her "escaping" straight into the pool.
If your one year old is fairly sedate then I would recommend the exectutive suite or the family pool view rooms.
The executive suite (we prefer ground floor rooms so we don't have to worry about the children and the balcony) has been our favourite room type, but it does cost more. We usualy book via an online booking agent and then upgrade (if available) when we get there.
Six months ago we paid AUD $150.00 for a kiddy suite (including brecky) and then upgraded to an executive suite for an extra AUD$40 per night.
We book through www.bali-travel.de as we have found them to be the cheapest. Some other sites may appear cheaper but never have any availability.
