I would really like to thank everyone for the response to my question.
Your'e detailed and informative reply is very much appreciated.
The Niksoma and Padma look lovely but too much for my budget.
I am tending to lean towards Kumala Pantai, which is one I would not have known about, so thankyou so much.
Will also have a good look into the others which were suggested.
It's nice to have so many options.
I'm almost positive that I have stayed at the Jayakarta in the early 1980's. I think it was called something else like Kuta Palace perhaps.
It was such a long time ago but the driveway entrance looked very familier to me. In those days it was a long way up the road from Kuta!
Too far to walk down to all the action!
But I am sure things have changed alot in 25years.
