It was a culture shock after living all my life previous to that in NZ, but I loved it from the minute I got off the plane with a 6 week old baby.
The heat, well that's another matter, but I got used to it over time, and the airconditioned car, house and swimming pool helped.LOL!
It's a pretty laid back lifestyle, we made lots of friends, enjoyed all the markets and multiculural events, and it's where I discovered my love of chillis. We only used to eat at home about 2 nights out of 5, as there were so many places to eat reasonably and kids were always welcome.
After 1 year in Karratha ( now that's a bit different again), we have lived here in Perth for nearly 12 years. Would I return to Darwin to live? Well yes I would quite happily, after all isn't life an adventure to be lived.
