We are coming from Melbourne.
Last year we stayed at SuriWathi for Nyepi. We watched the Ogah Ogah parade around Bemo corner. It eventually started around 8pm.
Went to the Kuta market along the beachfront next day which was very different and good fun.
We stocked up on some food the day prior but were still able to order meals at SW. Lots of staff were invited to sleepover in the hotel and it was funny to watch them dressed in 'civvies' and full of excitement as it was first time staying in hotel. We called some of them tourists and they loved it. Their families had sleepovers too so we got to meet partners and children.
Nyepi was a lovely day to read, relax, swim, spend more time talking to others and enjoy the day away from the hussle and bustle and the usual shopping.
The shops did close earlier on Nyepi eve and some restaurants were booked out. So make a booking at your choice of restaurant, just in case. (We ate at HRH and never again!) We plan to head over to Makro on Nyepi eve to buy up there. (Also worth a thought to head down to Bintang Supermarket, as they have heaps of stock and also sell wine at very reasonable prices!)
TnT, as Petron said, why not book a night at SW and spend the day with us. The Bali Rock star may give us a 'special' performance!
Didi organised a cocktail-a-thon last year for one evening, maybe we girls should get together and have one of Nyepi. Didi's fluffy pussies were a great success!
