Well $23 buys a lot more in Bali than the small amount of breakfast your children eat, I imagine. Having said that, quite a few people on this forum favour the Patra. I have stayed there and find it just a bit too far out for my liking and the fact that it has no beachfront puts it down further on my list. We (and our children) just love an early morning walk on the beach in Bali.
We have also stayed at the Bali Hai and the Dynasty, and the Bali Hai had the best beachfront for us. There have been recent reports on the forum about a beach reclamation project and that would make me look closely at where I stayed while it was continuing. Don't know how reliable the infomation coming from the hotels along this strip would be though as there would be a far amount of self-interest.
Bali Garden - I have not stayed there but judging from what other people have reported I think the price quoted is a little too high - perhaps a better price can be obtained from the hotel direct.
Next time we go we are splitting our time between Legian and Tuban with a little bit of internal travel in between. We are only going to book a lead in package with an agent for minimum nights and book the rest oursleves. Have you considered doing this to see if you can get a better deal?
Can't comment on the other properties but we will probably choose the Melasti.
Thanks for explaining the price changes - that does make sense now.
