Good morning/salamat pagi fellow travellers, my name is aaron and just wanted to sahare a recent experience in bali, my friends an i stayed for 12 days at a hotel called new arena, lovely looking hotel pool, air-con, tv, clean all the comforts of home. Problem is managment the family ran buisness is a discrace after 6 trips to bali in the past 10 years never have i encounted such vindictive, lying, rude owner/manager that i did there, after paying up front for 12 days, something i never encountered before we were to see why. Problems being, if a friend of ours either balinese or western came to the hotel and stayed more than 1 hour we were demanded to pay 50,000 rp, i was dumbfounded seen as though we were drinking at thier bar! I protested profusly and was told if i did not pay i would have to leave the hotel and forfeit the rest of my accomadation without a refund, but not quite that politely, i was warned with police action from the owner and had to tolerate volleys of abuse. My fiends girlfiend from bali, tianyar timor nth of bali of two years was told when she arrived to see him one evening from the owner that she was a prostitute and only there for jhiggy jig and had to hand over id and 50,000 to even walk into the hotel. After theses seperate incidents i indeed contacted the police and we sat down to discuss what could be done. The owner lied an insisted he only wanted the id not any monies as no reciept was ever given, and that he had not, verbally abused the visitor, my friends and i stated we would leave the hotel, but told we would not be given a refund. He insisted to police had not told us to leave, contrary to the heated argument the night before. I plead with anyone planning to stay there DONT! There are hundreds of balinese own and ran hotels which would much more appreciate you and your money, as thier hospitailty and friendly nature is second to none. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Aaron melbourne australia.
