Hi my hubby also suffers severely from airplane ear & he fly's for work regularly also. The hostesses on Aussie flights have Eucalyptus sachets you can sniff not sure about Garuda etc. Otherwise buy a cheap bottle from the supermarket & put on your hanky to sniff while taking off & landing. (He also chews but finds the eucalyptus makes a big difference).
