We stayed twice at Kartika and twice at BGH next time BGH but only you can say what you want from your holiday. Kartika impresses "your friends" and does it very well with service if you hang out there. Check out the prices and eating in house compared with the BGH. BGH is like as they said when we arrived "welcome home" I didn't get to know the staff at the Kartika as you can at BGH. The rooms - yes, more upmarket at Kartika but we do not spend much time in them. At BGH you get to know the staff and become true friends with them. Have your little sayings with them and know their family background traditions etc. Once when we stayed at Kartika we couldn't see the sunset for the tennis court lights the next had a great room overlooking the pool/breakfast area, so it all depends on what you want from "that" trip. None of it spoils the beauty of Bali. Mind you the walk from Kartika to the street is 5mins of wasted Bali Time lol.If you get out, there it really doesn't matter. BGH is friendly and clean also very affordable to Drink at the hotel, mini bar could have been filled twice daily, and has an excellant website -open the PDF file of the room plans. If the room doesn't suit just hit the streets and see the real Bali. If you want to know anything else just ask "No Problem" :-)
