I had the same experience 12 months ago. After having my bags go through 2 scanners and for the first time ever having to lighten my bags at check in (so they had been opened), i was horrified by the actual task of having myself frisked and then my hand luggage searched. In the course of this the guy searching my hand luggage actual broke the zip on the bag. As most flights out of Bali are late at night and as i was sick at the time it was pretty much the last straw for me, my mother was with me and tried to calm me down as she didn't want to see me arrested. Needless to say arriving at customs in sydney by bag completely broke, so i looked like a criminal to those guys as i tried to fix it as i was walking in the line and for the first time ever i was questioned when i reached the front of the line. After travelling to Bali for the past 6 years it really has put a dampner on it. I'm no criminal and while i can appreciate the lengths that they are going to to "protect" us, aussies don't blow up aussies and it has made me re think going back. i still shudder at the thought of being frisked.
